Review Trial Service period (if applicable) Introduce them to the department and team members.Review the Onboarding timeline (this document) with the employee.Review policies regarding breaks and meal periods Provide an overview of the schedule for the first day and workweek.Review work expectations, and process for reporting sick leave, sick child, and vacation time/requests.Review the welcome packet and take time to discuss contents (see “Before Start Date” checklist for contents).Give them the department welcome packet. Arrange to have lunch with the new employee on their first day.Welcome them upon arrival – Understand that they may be nervous try not to overwhelm them.
